How Indians Celebrate Diwali in Doha, Qatar

how indians celebrate diwali in doha qatarDiwali or Deepavali, the festival of lights is one of the biggest events for Hindu’s in India. Being an expat in Qatar, for the first time, I miss my usual Diwali. Here in Qatar, we cannot play with firecrackers. So what does Diwali mean here in Qatar? I asked my friends who’re here at my Villa about their Diwali plan. They told me that they’ll celebrate Diwali in Doha as similar to India, but without crackers. We bought new dresses, prepared sweets, and other dishes and shared it with friends who’re nearby. Also, some guys went to watch a movie and had their Diwali time at the movie theater.

Moreover, we cannot celebrate here much as we’ve to go to the office. Here celebrating Deepavali is just talking to relatives in India through Skype, cooking food and sharing some with friends in Villa.
